Kiambu Governor James Nyoro has raised concern over rampant corruption in the Planning and Construction department.
Reading the Riot Act to those implicated in the vice, Nyoro (pictured) regretted that unscrupulous officials have been demanding bribes from real estate investors, who have built apartments and commercial properties without approval.
“It is unfortunate to learn that my people are crisscrossing the county asking for money from investors ostensibly to protect them.
We shall soon give a hotline number so that if anyone demands a bribe, you can call and report,” he said.
Speaking at Gitaru trading center in Kabete yesterday when he launched the construction of Gitaru market, Nyoro cautioned investors against putting up buildings without approval.
