ODM Begins the Process of Countering UDA in Nyanza

The ODM party has initiated the mobilization of its supporters to counter the intrusion of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Homa Bay County.

ODM has instructed its followers in the county to use every means to ensure they control the gains that UDA has made in the area over the past few months.

This move is part of the strategy to diminish President William Ruto’s political efforts in the Nyanza region.

This region, a political stronghold of Azimio leader Mr. Raila Odinga, has been under attack from politicians associated with the Kenya Kwanza alliance.

On Friday, the ODM Joint Committee leaders held a special meeting led by the county’s party chairman, Gladys Wanga, and secretary Ong’ondo Were, where they discussed strategies to strengthen the party.

Ms. Wanga stated that the primary goal of the meeting is to revitalize the party’s popularity at the grassroots and national levels.

“We are the largest political party in the country, and this is ODM’s stronghold. We have come together to discuss strategies to improve the party as we are committed to supporting its leader,” said Ms. Wanga, who is also the governor of the county.

Homa Bay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga, Members of Parliament Lilian Gogo (Rangwe), Eve Obara (Kabondo Kasipul), and Adipo Okuome (Karchuonyo) were among those who attended the meeting.

The County Assembly Speaker, Julius Gaya, also led several ward representatives to the meeting.

The leaders unanimously agreed to push forward the party’s strategies together.

In a decision presented to Ms. Wanga, the party resolved to ensure it has an office in every ward.

They stated that this would ensure the party’s presence in every part of the county.

The ward representatives were tasked with ensuring that these offices carry out their activities as usual.

“I urge leaders to frequently visit these offices to ensure they are operational as usual. All county-level offices must be functioning from December 1,” Ms. Wanga said.

According to the governor, the party will construct its county offices, where all its activities will be conducted.

She assured members that the office building will be completed by April 2024.
