One Kenya Alliance(OKA) coalition agreement deals content with Azimo la Umoja has leaked depicting clauses that could scuttle talks between the two that seeks to merger to form a grand coalition.

In one of the clause from a reliable source, OKA draft agreement to Azimio says that they should be given a deal of that they will field presidential candidate, joint candidates in other elective position and power sharing that reflects portfolio balance in case of victory

The clause further says that OKA will produce even the running mate of the OKA presidential flagbearer for the coalition.

In another clause, says that for the purpose of power sharing, the coalition agreement will recognizes all categories of political parties among them the founding parties, other parties and or coalitions that the coalition may enter into in pre or post election agreement.

Boost to Raila as OKA leaders to join Azimio

The power sharing is depicted to be based on founder member status, portfolio balance, equity nd election performance and equity base.

In event that parties in the coalition do not agree or execute power-sharing deal before the end of 22 March, 2022, the draft agreement says that the agreement shall then stand terminated and dissolved.

However, this clauses and many more seems to bring more trouble and stumbling block to a possible coalition that could see it scatter DP Ruto’s state house bid if they came together.

Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu said that the law does not allow two coalitions to enter into a coalition. A coalition political party is a coalition already and the law only recognizes parties entering into either into a coalition political party or ordinary coalition.

According to her, its only parties that can. OKA principals are against entering into a coalition with Azimio coalition as individual parties.

OKA principals, Wiper Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc-Kenya Martha Karua, KANU Gideon Moi and UDP Cyrus Jirongo have said that they will only join Azimio as a coalition and not as individual parties.
