PATH has released its 2023 Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Annual Report, highlighting significant strides in fostering a representative, equitable, and inclusive workplace.

The report underscores the organization’s dedication to integrating DEI principles across its global health programs and internal practices.

The 2023 report marks a milestone year for PATH, showcasing key achievements such as the attainment of gender parity across all organizational levels, with a majority of women now serving in the executive leadership team. This accomplishment reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to gender equity, a priority since 2020.

Additionally, PATH has made considerable progress in enhancing racial diversity within its workforce. Notably, the organization saw a 25 percent increase in Black staff members in the United States since 2021, underscoring its commitment to racial equity.

The expansion of People Resource Groups, including the newly launched Latinx at PATH and Asian at PATH groups, has also been instrumental in fostering a stronger sense of community and belonging among diverse staff members.

PATH’s efforts to center equity in its global health programming were further highlighted in the report, with over 50 percent of projects reporting changes to ensure equity is a core focus. This commitment is driven by the belief that diversity is not only a value but also a catalyst for innovation and impact, enabling the organization to address complex global health challenges with culturally relevant and effective solutions.

“Our 2023 DEI annual report fills me with pride,” said Nikolaj Gilbert, President and CEO of PATH. “It showcases our genuine commitment to a workplace where diversity thrives, equity is paramount, and inclusion is ingrained. These aren’t just ideals—they’re the driving force behind our mission to advance health equity.”

Levis Nderitu, Global Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at PATH, echoed this sentiment, noting that while the organization has made significant progress, the journey toward true equity and inclusion is ongoing.

“This report is a labor of love from all our colleagues and reflects our progress toward integrating DEI principles across our people, business practices, and public health programming. We remain committed to continuous improvement and accountability in creating a more inclusive and equitable organization,” Nderitu said.

The report also features personal stories from PATH staff worldwide, offering insights into how they are actively contributing to a more inclusive and collaborative workplace. It also highlights country and division spotlights, as well as details on industry partnerships that further DEI goals.

PATH invites stakeholders, partners, and the public to review the full report and engage in the ongoing conversation about advancing DEI in global health. The organization’s dedication to these principles is seen as essential to its mission of advancing global health equity and improving health outcomes for diverse communities worldwide
