Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga visited the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi at Railways Headquarters on Wednesday for a joint press briefing.
The purpose of the briefing was for Mudavadi to appraise the country of Raila’s candidacy for the African Union Commission chairperson. Raila, who has declared interest in the AU’s topmost job ahead of the heads of State elections scheduled for February 2025, is Kenya’s candidate for the post.
President William Ruto has publicly declared his support for Raila’s AUC bid and has been actively lobbying African heads of State to back Odinga to succeed Moussa Faki.
The joint press briefing between Raila and Mudavadi signifies a unified front in Kenya’s efforts to secure leadership in the African Union. As the two political leaders come together to address the public, it underscores the importance of Kenya’s representation on the continental stage and the strategic alliances being formed to support Raila’s candidacy.
