Residents of Mwihoko in Kiambu County are facing a severe water shortage, with taps running dry for months. The situation has become so dire that the residents are now planning to demonstrate at Governor Wamatangi’s office to demand that the government take action.
For the residents of Mwihoko, the water shortage has become a way of life. They are forced to walk long distances to fetch water from the nearest available sources, which are often polluted and not suitable for human consumption.
The community has been complaining to the county government for months, but no action has been taken to address the issue. Frustrated and desperate, the residents have vowed to take their grievances to the governor’s office in a peaceful demonstration.
Recently, a group of concerned citizens drew attention to a nearby dam that could be used to treat water for domestic use. The resident have argued that the dam where two lovers recently died could be a viable solution to the water crisis in the area.
The county government has yet to respond to the proposal, but the residents of Mwihoko are hopeful that their voices will be heard, and that the water shortage will soon be a thing of the past. In the meantime, they continue to struggle with the daily challenges of living without access to clean, safe water.
