Rigathi Gachagua’s Unifying Vision for GEMA: And Why He Should be Supported

In recent times, the call for unity within the Gikuyu, Embu, and Meru (GEMA) community has found a powerful voice in Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Attending the Embu Livestock, Dairy, and Fisheries Exhibition at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization Grounds in Embu town, Gachagua emphasized the pressing need to address critical challenges facing the region, including youth unemployment and economic issues.

He called on GEMA community to speak in one voice and shun divisive politics propagated by few young leaders from the region.

“Let us stand united. We will not allow individuals to divide us for the sake of our region’s development. We have learned from the past, and we are resolute in our commitment to remain united for the prosperity of our community,” he stated.

Political analyst Albert Kasembeli sees Gachagua’s call for unity as rooted in his proven track record of leadership and service to the GEMA community.

Kasembeli notes that Gachagua, as Deputy President, consistently demonstrates his commitment to addressing the unique challenges and concerns of the GEMA people.

“Rigathi Gachagua has been a steadfast leader who actively engages with our community. His past achievements showcase his dedication to uplifting the GEMA community,” remarks Kasembeli.

One of the striking features of Gachagua’s vision is its emphasis on inclusivity and diversity within the GEMA community.

Furthermore, Gachagua’s advocacy for economic empowerment programs tailored to the needs of the GEMA community resonates with many.

Former Ichagaki MCA Charles Mwangi Ng’ang’a and JKUAT DON emphasize that Gachagua’s call for unity within the GEMA community is backed by a track record of leadership, a commitment to inclusivity, resilience against divisive politics, economic empowerment initiatives, and a vision for a united future.

He adds that as the region navigates the complex political landscape, supporting Gachagua’s unifying vision becomes a choice for a stronger, more prosperous GEMA community.

The Gema council of elders last week pledged to support Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua quest to unite the  Mount Kenya region for the sake of development and stability.

In an interview, Bishop Lawi Imathiu, the Gema chairman, emphasized that the unity of the Mount Kenya region is not a matter of choice but a fundamental requirement that must be honored.

He highlighted that the community faces significant challenges when its leaders engage in internal conflicts. Imathiu asserted, “Our leaders must present a unified front as they labor for the people’s benefit and the region’s development.”

Imathiu commended Gachagua’s initiatives in reaching out to leaders across the region, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta and those in the opposition.

“It’s a positive move for Gachagua to engage with former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and we would value it if he (Gachagua) successfully convinces him (Uhuru) for the sake of unity,” he remarked.

Arthur Namu, Gema secretary-general, reiterated this sentiment, emphasizing that the present time calls for a focus on public service rather than political maneuvers.

He stressed that leaders must prioritize the welfare of the people who entrusted them with power.
