“More than ever, we are united by our commitment to a prosperous Kenya,” Ruto stated. “This moment calls for a ‘team of rivals’ to maximize our transformation agenda’s success and promote inclusivity.”

The President urged Kenyans to remember the lessons of history, drawing parallels to past moments when unity and bipartisanship led to significant national progress. He highlighted that the spirit of collaboration has been instrumental in navigating critical junctures in Kenya’s history, from the Lancaster House negotiations to the National Accord.

“We must set aside partisan interests and work together to make Kenya great,” Ruto said. “Our goal is to build on our achievements and enhance our nationhood through inclusion, equity, and social justice.”

Focus Areas for the Reconstituted Cabinet

The newly reconstituted Cabinet will focus on several critical areas to build on the foundation laid over the past two years:

  1. Accountability and Anti-Corruption: Introduction of measures to enhance accountability and responsibility for public resource management, including surcharges for officers responsible for losses.

  1. Economic Foundations: Building on the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda with a focus on job creation, local industrial development, and wealth creation.
  2. Agriculture and Food Security: Transforming agriculture to ensure food security and agro-industrial growth.
  3. Support for MSMEs: Harnessing the potential of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises to drive economic progress.
  4. Digital and Technological Advancements: Promoting technological and creative capabilities through the digital superhighway.
  5. Healthcare and Housing: Investing in universal health coverage and increasing affordable housing units to boost employment and business opportunities.

President Ruto expressed confidence that the new Cabinet has the capability to fulfill these objectives and bring about meaningful change for Kenya.
