Deputy President William Ruto will be in Nyeri County to attend the funeral of his running mate Rigathi Gachagua’s elder brother.
The funeral ceremony will take place at Hiriga Primary School in Mathira Constituency, Gachagua’s home turf.
Two make their first visit to Nyeri just days after DP Ruto nominated the Mathira MP as his running mate for the August election.
Gachagua said he was honoured by the responsibility and faith bestowed on him to be DP Ruto’s running mate in the most defining election in Kenya’s history.
“Thank you for the trust and confidence you have shown in me, it’s a privilege, I will not let you down, I will not let the hustler nation down, I will not let the people of Kenya down,” He said after the nomination.
Gachagua is now expected to meet his constituents for the first time in his new capacity and while he will be mourning his departed brother, there shall be messages of hope for what the future holds as well as celebrations here and there.
