Ruto’s hand in disintegrating OKA through Musalia Mudavadi

The disintegration of the much touted third force, the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) became apparent yesterday after the Amani National Congress (ANC) Musalia Mudavadi publicly expressed intention to work with Deputy President William Ruto.

While launching his presidential bid at the Bomas of Kenya ina dramatic event attended by the Ruto’s led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) brigade moments after Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper party) and Gedion Moi (Kanu) walked out of the event upon realising of planned Ruto’s attendance, Mudavadi warmed up to a possible coalition with a strange bedfellow.

Surprised by the invitation of Ruto, stormed out in protest.

Previously, Mudavadi has been boycotting OKA’s strategy meetings and instead sent representatives in waht pointed to waning confidence amongst the principals.

Through a statement, they announced the death of OKA stating that the alliance could not disregard Mudavadi’s political games and that they were moving to ‘higher grounds’.

OKA’s spokesperson Frederick Okango stated that they cannot be friends with Ruto and it was time to move to ‘higher grounds’.

“Unfortunately, we have to part ways since some of his friends are not our friends and we are unsafe with them. It is time to move forward, it is time to end the nasty political games,” said Okango.

The OKA principal revealed that the ANC’s presidential candidate, took his ex-co-principal at a surprise during his announcement yesterday at the Bomas of Kenya.

The ANC party leader had been downplaying his move by stating that OKA had not received any formal invitation talks by either party, this came after rumours that the DP had asked the party leader to join hands for a coalition.

Mudavadi had also boycotted OKA’s meeting causing speculations for his move to UDA or ODM thus bringing a conclusion he will be part of UDA as the DP was present for his announcement.

Mudavadi who is now popularizing his bid under the ‘Uchumi Bora, Pesa Mfukoni’, says top of his priority should he clinch the top job, will be taming and undoing the public debt adding hustlers could also benefit from it.

Ruto also affirmed that he had joined hands with Mudavadi’s band waggon towards a national transformation mission.

“We will work with ANC, Ford-Kenya and all other parties that want to walk with us in this journey of bringing the nation together,” Ruto said.

Under the new UDA-ANC partnership, Ruto guaranteed to uphold democracy and ensure that Kenya does not enter into an authoritarian state.

“Ensuring we protect and consolidate our democracy that every Kenyan, as provided by the constitution, can make choices and refuse the criminalization of decent or alternative views,” said the DP.
