Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja, has announced that he will be listing companies for Kenyans to boycott next week for undermining democracy in the country.
Odinga singled out Safaricom, the telecommunications giant, for the boycott and stated that his team will add more companies next week to be boycotted by Kenyans.
The leader also called for mass action and demonstrations, which will culminate in a rally in Nairobi to march to State House, as it is enshrined in the constitution.
Odinga gave the Ruto government two weeks to tackle runaway inflation, have IEBC servers opened, and include all stakeholders in recruiting new commissioners.
However, since the government has refused to talk and has gone ahead to gazette a commission for the new IEBC team, Odinga feels that the government wants to talk directly to Kenyans soon.
Migori governor Ochillo Ayacko, Siaya governor James Orengo and Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o said with runaway inflation Kenyans will need answer from government. :”We want to tell Ruto we have seen worse presidents in Africa and we will not be cowed,”Orengo said.
Other opposition leaders who were present at the announcement included Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, Wycliffe Oparanya, Ochillo Ayacko, James Orengo, Anyang’ Nyong’o, and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed.
