President Uhuru Kenyatta has convened Sagana Three summit of Mount Kenya leaders in Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri County which is widely regarded as his first public event in the region in support of Raila Odinga’s presidential candidacy.

Kenyatta recently declared he will start campaigning for his preferred successor.

The President’s allies yesterday styled the meeting as a political tsunami that will influence the region’s direction in the August 9 General Election.

During a Mt Kenya youth meeting at State House, Nairobi the President revealed his support for Raila’s coalition, Azimio la Umoja Movement drawing applause from the more than 3,000 youth leaders with some chanting “Yote yawezekana bila Ruto”.

The Head of State is anticipated to take advantage of the opportunity to attack his estranged deputy, who has officially declared himself the region’s kingpin.

Kenyatta is collaborating with Odinga and their respective parties—Jubilee and ODM to meet on February 25 and 26 to finalize their coalition arrangements.

Kenyatta is expected to meet with Mt Kenya leaders shortly to explain why he and his deputy had a falling out, according to Jubilee vice-chairman David Murathe.

The President has convened two meetings in Sagana State Lodge called Sagana One and Two and Sagana Three which will be convened next week where he is anticipated to announce his succession plan and reveal what went wrong between him and the DP.

Sagana has been mounted as the headquarters of all Mt Kenya politics as was seen with Sagana I and II.

The significance of these meetings cannot be underscored as they always offer the region the necessary political direction.

The meeting with Kenyatta will take place next week right before the Jubilee party NDC.

While in Murang’a, the DP with his Kenya Kwanza Alliance team challenged Odinga and by extension his boss, Kenyatta to a duel in the vote-rich region.

“I know even if he is helped by who, Kenyans will be quick to know he is clueless on what are the country’s priorities,” the second-in-command said.
