Hearing of the Sh88 million scandal case against former National Olympic Committee of Kenya officials has been pushed to next year.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo adjourned the hearing yesterday after the defense team claimed that one of the accused, Bernard Ekumbo, was unwell and unable to attend court proceedings.
“I will not be ready to proceed in the absence of the accused person, who has been admitted at Nairobi Hospital and is currently incapacitated,” Ekumbo’s lawyer said.
But the prosecution, through Anderson Gikunda, told the court that he was ready to proceed with three witnesses including Nock treasurer Fridah Shiroya who was stood down during last hearing in January 2019.
