Shiru wa GP, all you would like to know about her and her music career

Mary Wanjiru alias Shiru wa GP is a Gospel musician and songwriter. She is best known for leading kikuyu based gospel music such as Agiginyani, Irema, Mwaki and many others.

Shiru is also the CEO of a music school by the name Finetune music school which mentors young upcoming artists and aspiring musicians.

Shiru’s interest in Music started when she was in class five.Later she joined the A.P dancing group and formed Kiambu Chosen Generation Dancer.

Wa GP became a full Christian convert and fully dedicated her life to Christ at Home Care Fellowship in Kahawa, under Rev. Ann Kamau after being persuaded by someone to get saved.

There after she remained a very active dancer and a praise and worship team member. Shiru later fell in love with Anthony Thuo , who was their keyboard player in church.

She got great support from her husband Anthony towards the realization of her dream of becoming a good gospel musician. Anthony would play the keyboard as Shiro practiced and later program them for her .She therefore, decided to seek help and organized a fundraiser to help record the songs.

She recorded her first song called Muoroto at Big Heart Studios. Soon after recording the song, she embarked on a journey to market her music.She visited several places to popularize the song and lucky enough she made some good sales.

Two years later, Shiru Wa GP recorded her first popular song called Agiginyani.This song was aimed at motivating her not to give up regarding the challenges she was facing at that time.

Shiru Wa GP was working at Wilson Airport when the song hit the market – with a bang.

She decided to leave her job to concentrate on marketing her new song which, was with no doubt very promising.After the song so many opportunities opened up for her in a manner that she had never imagined before.
