The Speaker of Siaya County Assembly, George Okode, has denied any plans to oust Governor James Orengo.
Mr. Okode stated that currently, there is no bill or such plans in the county assembly, and they are working well with the governor’s office.
“I want to make it clear that there is no plan to remove the governor, the County Finance Minister, or any other officer at the moment because we have no reason to do so. This does not mean that we cannot, as removing leaders from office is a method used when the required numbers are available,” Mr. Okode said while addressing the media.
However, reliable sources suggest there is a division among the ward representatives.

There is a group of councilors supporting the removal of Governor Orengo while others oppose it.
Those in favor of his removal have reportedly prepared a bill.
Mr. Okode disagrees with this, adding that on Monday, October 23, 2023, the governor met with the councilors to discuss critical county issues.
“We will also meet with the governor on Sunday, October 29, 2023, to discuss how to improve the lives of the residents,” he added.
