Jimmy Kibaki welcomed all the aspirants to the party. He maintained that they have enough resources to campaign for their aspirants.

Kibaki exuded confidence that the party will have to win between 50 and 150 parliamentary seats in the coming election to give it more bargaining power during the formation of coalitions after the polls.

He said that the party are supporting president Uhuru Kenyatta in uniting the Country.

Jimmy welcomed Tana River speaker to the party as well as Brian Muturi who is the son of the speaker of the National assembly.

Brian Muturi told the party national chairman Thuo Mathenge that his father (Muturi) is aware of him joining the TND party.

“My father is aware I am here with Jimmy Kibaki and am supporting the party, “Brian Muturi said.

He didn’t reveal whether he will be vying in August.

About three months ago, the party-appointed Simon Gathecha who is Uhuru’s cousin as party coordinator in Kiambu County.

Gathecha has been coordinating party affairs as well as mobilizing members to join the party.

Tana River county assembly speaker Justin Nkaduda said that the presence of Jimmy Kibaki being the party deputy leader is a score.

He said that the party members are principled and they are committed to serving the nation.

He will vie for the governor position.

He said that he will traverse the whole of Tana River County campaigning for the party and recruiting more members.

“As I campaign for the party, I will also preach peace, ‘he said.

The party national chairman Thuo Mathenge warned party members of inciting violence while campaigning.

He said that such an act can disqualify the member from vying.

“Before issuing a certificate to candidates, we will do our background search to know his or her character,” Thuo said.

Thuo maintained that he will vie for the position of governor in Nyeri County.
