Pay television broadcaster StarTimes Media will beam live Kenya’s ‘Team Morans’ quest for qualification to the second round of the FIBA World Cup Africa qualifiers. The upcoming Window 3 of the African Qualifiers is scheduled for Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire), Alexandria (Egypt) and Kigali (Rwanda) from 1st to 3rd July.

With all groups having only played six out of their 12 matches the next 24 games will be critical in determining the final teams that will be advancing into the second round while keeping alive their dreams of reaching the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

Morans started their quest to qualify for the global festival during Window One games in Dakar, Senegal in February. Playing in Group D where they lost all three games against DR Congo, Egypt and Senegal.

They however stand a chance heading to this third round as two wins in three matches will see them seal a place in the final round of qualification matches.

Speaking when he unveiled the fixtures, StarTimes Regional Marketing Director Mr. Aldrine Nsubuga rallied Kenyans to support the national basketball team as the upcoming fixtures will make or break ‘Team Morans’ chances of progressing to the next stage.

“We are promising basketball fans in Kenya all the live action at the comfort of their homes, the upcoming fixtures will be tightly contested and we believe with the support from home, our national team can proceed to the next stage,” noted Mr. Nsubuga.

South Sudan and Cote d’Ivoire are the only two teams left unbeaten suggesting more twists and turns could be yet to unfold before the close of window three.

Five African national teams will earn a spot in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 that’s scheduled to take place from August 25th to September 10th 2023 in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.

‘Team Morans’ will face DR Congo on Friday 1st July at 6pm, with the second fixture against Egypt taking place on 2nd July at 9pm both of which will air live on Sports Focus channel and the final match against Senegal taking place on 3rd July at 6pm on StarTimes Sports Life channel.

Kenya will be targeting to at least achieve third position or better in Group D to advance to the second round of the African Qualifiers scheduled to start in the fourth window in August 2022.
