Senator Isaac Mwaura CBS MP is a Nominated Senator in the Kenyan senate representing persons with disabilities.

Mwaura holds a Bachelor’s degree from Kenyatta University and an MA in development studies from Nelson Mandela university in South Africa and another MA degree in Social and Public Policy from the University of Leeds in England as a Ford Fellow.

He is currently a member of the senate speakers’ panel that presides the senate plenary together with the speaker.

He is the immediate past vice chairman of the senate finance and budget committee, the one responsible for the third-generation formula.

He currently serves as a member of the labor and social welfare committee and the devolution and intergovernmental Relations Committee and He has served as a member of the National Assembly in the 11th Parliament for 5 years .

Mwaura is a co-founder and chairman of the Albinism society of Kenya, and in January this year, he was elected with the highest number of votes to sit in the board of the Global Albinism Alliance.

He is the founder of the Kenya disability parliamentary association, an association of legislators representing persons with disabilities, and is the vision bearer behind the Intersex Persons Society of Kenya.

He also pioneered the Mr. and Miss Albinism Kenya and east Africa as a self-definition platform for persons with Albinism in Africa.

Mwaura is passionate about politics and Good Governance towards making Kenya a first world Nation.

He is a strong voice for the voiceless in society and has been recognized both locally and Internationally. In June he was named among 11 superheroes globally by Terredes Hommes Netherlands, for championing the cause of vulnerable children, both locally and internationally.

A published author, Mwaura runs a weekly Column with The Star Newspaper every Friday.
