Three minors were on Tuesday evening burnt to death after fire razed down their home at Turi in Molo, Nakuru county.

The trio were asleep and their father had gone to buy food for supper when the fire broke out at around 6:30pm.

Area Chief Njoroge Muturi said nothing was salvaged from the house. Njoroge, however, said they have not established the cause of the fire saying police have launched investigations.

“We have lost children aged six, five and four years, they were alone in the house at the time of the incident and were all burnt beyond recognition,” he said.

Huge flames George Ongeri, the father of the three children, could not wrap his head around what had happened minutes after he left home.

“I left them sleeping at a round 6.30pm and an hour later I received a call from neighbours that my house was on fire forcing me to rush back home,”said Ongeri.

He said from a distance, he saw huge flames devouring what he called home hoping that someone would have rescued his children.

“I couldn’t trace my children among those who were at the scene and it dawned on me that my children Mercy Nyaboke, 6, Lydia Moraa, 5, and Anthony Ongeri, 4, didn’t survive,” he added.

“The bodies were removed to Elburgon sub-county Hospital mortuary,” said Muturi.
