It was in 2018 during a late night interview on Citizen TV’s News Night when interview was almost cut shot after ex-Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale went for vocal Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s jugular claiming the legislator was drunk.
It all started well with each guest who included economist Alex Awiti giving views on the imminent high cost of living as a result of the 16 % levy on fuel and petroleum products. 060506
Khalwale hilariously claimed the station should have introduced a breathalyzer at the gate to bar drunk guests.
“I wish we placed an alcoblow at the door of this studio,”said Khalwale.
It did not take long before the abrasive Kiambu politician roared back, with an equally acidic response. “Before you started conducting abortions as a young doctor, I was already drinking,” Kuria responded.
At the beginning of the interview, the former senator fired the first salvo after he equated the MP to an Omunyambi, a person who would traditionally sit at a king’s feet to take blame when the king farted.
This came after Kuria defended President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government over the fuel levy.
Khalwale’s comment was clearly targeted at his colleague politician even after social media was awash with suggestions the lawmaker was not in the right frame of mind during the live show.
