Kisumu police are investigating an incident in which a police officer threw teargas canisters at various locations in the city on Monday night.
The incident was reported to the police around 3am on Monday, according to a police report.
The officer had an argument with the hotel watchman who refused to let him in, claiming that his girlfriend was inside with another man. In his frustration, he threw teargas canisters inside the hotel before leaving on a motorcycle whose registration was unknown.
Later, the officer went to a club along the Kisumu-Nairobi highway in Nyamasaria and also lobbed teargas canisters.
The resulting commotion led to his arrest and subsequent hospitalization at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital due to multiple injuries sustained during the altercation. The incident is currently under investigation by Kisumu police.
