Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua who is the sitting MP for Mathira served as a District Officer (D.O) in the tyrannical government of late president Daniel arap Moi.

When Rigathi was a D.O. Here he is with then President Moi.

During the 1990s Rigathi served in Molo in Nakuru and Kiambaa in Kiambu as a ruthless D.O.

When he was in Kiambaa he run a kind of extortion scheme targeting the bar owners during Christmas.

A story run by Daily Nation in 1990s has unveiled how the man Deputy President William Ruto wants to be his running mate hurt his fellow Kikuyus.

To authenticate this, on Inooro TV morning show he was asked about his ruthlessness as D.O there, which he did not deny but placed the blame on late President Moi.

He is now Mathira MP.

He was asked about the incident he used administration police to beat up people attending a rally of then Limuru MP George Nyanja at Kwa Mbira area.

The MP was harassed for question the way Moi was running the country.

Rigathi responded; “Yes, it happened. That was the thing in 1990s but were ended by multipartyism. We were in the government. I was not Moi or the president. He was the government. We did what he wanted. We were people of following his directives”.

Now we can reveal how in 1990s he crashed with bar owners and then Kiambaa MP Kamau Icharia who served from 1992 to 1997.

Rigathi had ordered all bar owners to contribute money and beer as Christmas gifts to him, failure to which they would face consequences.

In the story it is said he charged them because he provided security for them and their customers during the festive season.

He had done so for three years before the MP Icharia complained and the matter was captured by the media.

Rigathi had written directives to chiefs and their assistants to collect money ranging from Sh500 to Sh1, 000, crates of beer and goats from the operators depending on the size of their bars.

This hurt businesses as it became a tradition by the junior officers and police, rendering some to close down.

The now billionaire politicians admitted to media he gave the written instruction but claimed the contributions were voluntary.

When he was arrested recently over corruption.

“We were not asking to be paid for the services provided; we merely asked for contributions to enable us host a party for the Aps” he told media.
