Three traders were yesterday charged with the death of 10 people, who died after consuming illicit liquor in Hodi Hodi area in Bahati, Nakuru county.
Annastacia Njeri, Josephat Mwaniki and Albert Macharia appeared before Justice Hillary Chemitei via Zoom.
According to the charge sheet, the trio, between August 9 and 10 jointly killed the 10. They denied the charges and through their lawyers, sought to be released on reasonable bond terms.
However, the prosecution opposed the application, arguing that the second and third accused had no known fixed abode hence were a flight risk.
“We are not opposed to bond for the first accused person, who has complied with all investigations pertaining the case,” prosecution said.
In his ruling, Justice Chemitei released Njeri on a Sh1 million bond or a surety of the same amount and directed that the other two remain in custody until a pre-bond report is presented in court.
