The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has distanced itself from Senator Samson Cherargei’s recent proposal to extend the presidential term limit to seven years.
In a statement released by the UDA Party Secretary General, Cleophas Malala, the party made it clear that Senator Cherargei’s views on this matter do not align with the party’s stance.
“The UDA Party respects and upholds the Senator’s personal views, but particularly on the referenced subject, those views do not reflect the perspectives of the UDA Party and/or its Party Leader, H.E. the President, William Ruto,” stated Cleophas Malala.
He emphasized that President Ruto, like all elected officials, had sworn to respect, uphold, and defend the Constitution, which clearly outlines the presidential term limit.

Malala further noted that the UDA Party’s primary focus at present is on delivering on its promises to the people of Kenya.
The party is aware of the approaching general election and is committed to submitting its scorecard for public evaluation.
“The Ruling Party is presently focused on delivering on its promises to the People of Kenya, mindful that it shall in due course submit its scorecard for the people to evaluate, “he said.
He further regarded the term limit debate as superfluous and peripheral in light of the UDA Party’s dedication to its ongoing initiatives and preparations for the upcoming general election noting that the party remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the interests of the Kenyan people and operating within the framework of the Constitution.
