UDA party to use IEBC register during nomination exercise

Murang’a senator and gubernatorial candidate on UDA party Irungu Kanga’ta has said IEBC register will be used during the party nomination exercise.

Kanga’ta was speaking on Tuesday during the party national delegates’ conference at Kasarani Stadium.

He said the IEBC register will allow Wanjiku an opportunity to elect leaders that they wish.

“The use of party register was halted by the officials and they agreed they will use IEBC register instead,”Kanga’ta said.

Kanga’ta said that there are areas where more than six candidates are eyeing the same seat.

He said that party primaries in the country have been characterized by chaos and fallouts every electioneering period.

“Our nomination exercise will be free and fair and we will accommodate everyone, ‘he said.

In Kiambu County, about six candidates are eyeing the gubernatorial seat on the UDA ticket which is expected to prove headache for the party officials.

They include Ferdinand Waititu, Senator Kimani Wamatangi, Patrick Wainaina alias Wa Jungle (Thika Town) and the county assembly speaker Stephen Ndichu.

Tujibebe Wakenya party leader Kabogo and his Chama Cha Kazi counterpart Kuria announced that they will back the alliance and Ruto’s presidential bid.

Kiambu speaker Stephen Ndichu on Friday led a delegation of 30 Kiambu MCAs to DP Ruto’s Karen home where they officially joined UDA after ditching the ruling party Jubilee.

The entry of Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi and Thika MP Wainaina Jungle is expected to prove a nomination headache for the deputy president party.
