Uhuru Finally Gives up on Kalonzo After Suspecting What he Might be Doing With Ruto

Sources aware of the ongoing negotiations say that Uhuru was turned off when Kalonzo held talks with Chama Cha Kazi leader Moses Kuria, who the President believes is an ally of DP Ruto.

Details now suggest that President Uhuru Kenyatta has given up on his attempts to have Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka join the Azimio La Umoja camp.

Uhuru has been trying to have Kalonzo and his OKA team join Raila, which he believes will boost the former Premier’s winning chances in August.

But the People Daily has been told that the President has now given up on him after he was spotted with a man considered a member of the rival camp and therefore possibly an agent of the opposite team.

Sources aware of the ongoing negotiations say that Uhuru was turned off when Kalonzo held talks with Chama Cha Kazi leader Moses Kuria, who the President believes is an ally of DP Ruto.

And having fallen out with Ruto, who is also a threat to Raila’s win, Uhuru is reported to have decided to let Kalonzo now do as he wishes rather than continue pursuing and trying to woo him.

“The President was not happy when he saw Kalonzo joining Kuria at a press conference to issue new demands only two days after they had a meeting at State House and agreed on the way forward,” a highly placed source told the paper.

The same is said to be the case with Raila, who would later say that he won’t force anybody to join him and didn’t expect Kalonzo to join him for the Azimio candidate naming event on Saturday.

The source said that Raila’s remark were in reference to Kalonzo’s flip flopping habit.

“This is a coalition of the willing. Nobody is being coerced to join Azimio. Those who will come to the Saturday meeting are those who subscribe to the ideologies of Azimio, which is a unity of purpose,” the leader said in a presser on Monday.

Kalonzo last week said that he can only work with Raila if Raila sticks to their earlier agreement where he (Raila) was to endorse him for the presidency.

Hours later, in a TV interview, he said that ultimately he will just end up working with Raila and Azimio.
