President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Wednesday meet over 6,000 delegates from his Mt Kenya backyard as he moves to take firm control of his succession.
The Star has established that the various sector leaders have been invited to the all-important meeting at Sagan State lodge, known as the Sagana Three.
Opinion leaders including the clergy, teachers’ unions’, Boda Boda patrons as well as select elected and influential political and business leaders have been invited to the meeting.
Allies of Deputy President William Ruto have been locked out of the crucial regional summit with Uhuru expected to openly endorse ODM boss Raila Odinga as his preferred successor.
On Wednesday, Uhuru’s allies insisted that the DP’s confidants whom they said have been attacking and undermining the president have not been invited.
“This would be a housekeeping meeting between the President and his soldiers from the larger Mt Kenya,” said Kini MP Kanini Kega, one of the key organisers.
The MP, an ally of the President, said ‘leaders from all spectrums” have been invited to Sagana State Lodge, but ‘saboteurs will be blocked.”
The President is widely expected to drop what his allies have termed as “the Ruto bombshell” to elaborately explain the genesis of his departure with Ruto.
