Why CS Macharia Will Stop Driving His Vehicle From 2030

Ten years from now, the Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia will stop driving himself and become just be a passenger in his vehicle.

Macharia has vowed to stop driving when he attains 70 years. That will be in 2029. Thus, from 2030 he will throw away his driving license.

He says he got his driver’s license in United Kingdom that indicates when he reaches 70 years he will stop driving vehicles.

“Why do Kenyans still retain rights to drive even when they are very old and frail? I got mine in UK and it will expire in 2029. In Kenya we don’t look at age. Those are matters we shall put into account,” Macharia says.

If the Murang’a born accountant keeps his vow, it will set precedent in the country as pertaining the age to cease driving.

He says the Transport Ministry will have a law that will set the age motorists will stop being behind the wheels.
