The KNRA also addressed the disposal of ionization smoke detectors, which contain radioactive materials. These detectors are crucial for fire safety but require proper disposal to prevent environmental and health risks.
All decommissioned or unused smoke detectors must be disposed of at licensed radioactive waste facilities.
Registration of X-Ray Scanners
In addition, facilities utilizing X-ray scanners for baggage scanning are required to register with KNRA.
This measure ensures that all activities involving radioactive materials are managed safely and in compliance with regulatory standards.
