Musician Wilson Abubakar Radido, popularly known as Willy Paul or Willy Pozee, has revealed that he hasn’t set foot in church for seven years. He claimed that the reason was being called names that caused him stress.
On his Instagram page, Pozee stated that he is now ready to forget the incidents that led him to avoid attending church for so long. He made these remarks after attending a church service on January 28, 2024.
The artist, renowned for the 2013 hit song ‘Sitolia,’ had been avoiding church since 2017.
“I hadn’t been going to church since 2017 because the church did something wrong to me,” he claimed.
The founder of Saldido International Entertainment praised the church service in the new year, symbolizing a fresh start.
“But I attended a church service in Embakasi and I feel very happy. It will be a very good year because I have started going to church,” he said.
The 30-year-old musician stirred controversy online in 2017 when a photo of him with a woman at an entertainment venue surfaced. Some of his followers and those believed to envy him started calling him derogatory names.
They claimed that his actions were equivalent to venturing into the secular music industry.
In 2021, he opened up about leaving the gospel music industry, a decision that caused him stress and ultimately led to a breakdown.
“Some of you ask me why I left the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ… and even call me names because I no longer praise Jesus in my songs. According to them, I am very bad, and everything about me is bad,” he added.
