Young Lady From Murang’a Who Gave Her Parents a Palatial House Declines to Vie in 2022 Elections

The young woman who surprised Kenyans with a stunning gift to her parents in Murang’a county has set record straight on whispers she is eyeing a political seat.

Betty Maina who is a director for Athi Water Works Development Agency set tongues wagging when she presented her parents with an enviable multi-million worth maisonette that left her guests and Kenyans in disbelief.

The fully furnished two-story house is said to have cost her more than Sh10 million.

Betty who is a close friend of Murang’a Women Rep Sabina Chege was rumoured to be eyeing the seat Sabina is occupying if the latter goes for Murang’a gubernatorial post.

She has however declined to be on the ballot saying she will hunt votes for people she desires to occupy the various posts in her Murang’a county and at presidential level.

Speaking in Kandara she said; “I not asking for votes for myself but I will do that for others. When I will desire to vie I will come here to ask for your votes”.

She added; “At the moment I am not in any political contest. Let’s first those in the race”.

Since 2019 she has been active in Murang’a water projects and fundraisers accompanying various politicians.

Though she is a Kieleweke supporter, Betty is known to gel well with even rivals in Tangatanga faction.

Her boss Water PS Joseph Wairagu is vying for Murang’a governor’s seat and so is her former employer, Sabina Chege.

Her other buddy who was PS for Transport Irungu Nyakera is eyeing to succeed Murang’a governor Mwangi wa Iria.

Betty is in the team campaigning for ODM leader Raila Odinga to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Recently she was spotted with presidential aspirant Jimmy Wanjigi in Machakos and later at a burial in Kigumo, Murang’a county.

“We thought she would seek the women rep seat. Perhaps her friend Sabina has not yet decided to gun for the county top seat making it tricky for her to replace Sabina” a friend said.
